According to Article 9 of Council Directive 90/220/EEC (see Official Journal of the European Commission, L 117 of 8 May 1990), the Competent Authorities of the Member States of the European Union send to the European Commission (Joint Research Centre - Ispra) a summary of each notification (SNIF) received.
Two formats for this summary have been established by the Commission and are described in the Commission Decision 94/211/EC of 15 April 1994 amending Council Decision 91/596/EEC concerning the summary notification information format referred to in Article 9 of Council Directive 90/220/EEC (see Official Journal of the European Commission, L 105/26 of 26 April 1994). Part 1 describes the format to be used for releases of genetically modified higher plants, and Part 2 the format to be used for releases of genetically modified organisms other than higher plants.
The European Commission distributes the notifications for information to all Member States, Norway and Iceland.

Here we provide you with an overview of all notifications circulated so far among Member States since the implementation date of Directive 90/220/EEC (21 October 1991).

On your left-hand side you will find an index which allows you to navigate through the information available which is split in three parts: the first one refers to the total number of summaries by country, genetically modified higher plants and genetically modified organisms other than higher plants. The second one gives you general information (common name, main trait, notifier and notification number) grouped by country and the third one indicates the taxonomy of all plants notified to the Commission up to-date.
